The Maritime Spinners Retreat is a magical weekend where fibre artists and yarn spinners gather to learn, relax, share and spin. Each year the retreat bounces back and forth between the 3 maritime provinces and take place mid-October. This year the retreat was held in Prince Edward Island, it is the third retreat I have attended and my first time participating as a vendor. So many fiber goodies, dyed merino wool, art batts and tasters kits of mohair, silk and nylon sparkles!
During the last week and a half I have been in all three of the Maritime Provinces either teaching or selling and it has been a whirlwind! It all started last Thursday at the Nova Scotia Fibre Arts Festival where I was teaching 3 workshops back to back; Funky Felted Flower Brooches, Fabulous Felted Vessels and Fancy Felted Fingerless Gloves. Sunday morning I slowly sipped my coffee, while I reviewed my "weaving workshop check list". It was a crisp fall morning and I couldn't wait to get on the road and under the canopy of changing leaves. I opted for the longer but prettier drive along the Saint John river, stopping at a vegetable stand or two to admire the decorative corn and luscious pumpkins.
