Naturally Dyeing and Printing with Plants

Connect with historical traditions from all over the world as we discover the shades, hues, and colours of natural dyes! This wonderful week will be jam packed with colourful chemistry; we will be exploring mordants, the fascinating pink and purple hues of brazil wood, and experimenting with colours you can find in of your own backyard. Participants will be working collectively to create resources of dyeing knowledge, making and following recipes to dye samples of wool, cotton, and silk. During the week we will also be creating patterns on scarves using Japanese Shibori techniques, and printing using flowers, bark and leaves.  

Participants will create a resource binder of dyed samples and recipes, and will dye 3 silk scarves.

3 Day Natural Dye Workshop

During the week we will also be creating patterns using Japanese Shibori techniques, and printing using flowers, bark and leaves. Participants will create a resource binder of dyed samples and recipes, and will dye 1 or 2 silk scarves.

Funky Felted Flower Brooch

During the workshops you will be creating patterns on two scarves using Japanese Shibori techniques, and printing using flowers, bark and leaves! You will not want to pass up this great opportunity with talented Anna Mathis.
